Aamir Khan, A R Rahman: Padma Bhushan Recipients on the 60th Republic Day celebrations

After having the honour of being bestowed with the Padma Shri now actor Aamir Khan has the distinction of being chosen for the Padma Bhushan Awards on the occasion of India’s 60th year of becoming a Republic. This is one actor who has climbed the ladder to success with a lot of gusto and yet with a calculated pace. Music Maestro AR Rahman has also been bestowed with the honourable Award along with Ilayaraja.Amongst other recipients there is also the US based hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal who is to receive the prestigious Award.

The Padma Shri is awarded to Actress Rekha, actor Sais Ali Khan, Theatre actress Zohra Sehgal also sound engineer Resul Pookutty who gained a good name by composing in the famous ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ film. Then there is Mallika Sarabhai who is a distinguished figure in India as also table exponent Pandit Channulal Mishra and Planning Commission member B K Chaturvedi amongst a host of other personalities form various fields. These awards include 30 awardees out of which 13 are either foreigners or NRI’s that is PIO or people of Indian Origin. There are 17 women from various categories included in the list. These Awards will be presented to the chosen personalities by the distinguished President of India Pratibha Patil sometime in the month of February.
